Covid - 19
What's Happening at Booka!

Hello Readers and Friends of Booka

As the Coronavirus (Covid-19) situation escalates, and in line with Government advice, the bookshop is now closed to the public until further notice.

You can still shop with us online, place book orders by phone, email and social media, with free local delivery (10 mile radius) and a small charge for posting further afield.

Buying books from us now is more important than ever!

Thanks for your support, we greatly appreciate it.

This last week has been a bit of a blur with an ever changing situation quickly overtaking each plan we try and put into place. It feels now like we're going into hibernation! But, rest assured, we will be back and look forward to opening our doors and welcoming you back to Booka when it is safe to do so!

For now, please stay safe and keep reading!

Booka Online

You can purchase from us online: www.bookabookshop.co.uk

We're working as quickly as we can to showcase a wider curated offer of books including our bestsellers, favourites, highlighted new titles and Kids Picks etc. This is in addition to our extensive range of signed copies and special editions.

Take a look!

Events Programme

We are in the process of cancelling / postponing all the events we had planned for late March, April and May. The status of each event is listed on our website.

The events with Amanda Owen (The Yorkshire Shepherdess), Ruth Jones and Raynor Winn have been postponed and will be rearranged to dates in September. All tickets for these events remain valid and ticket holders will be contacted with the revised date. Anyone who is unable to make the revised date will be given a full refund.

Need to stay at Home...
Need a Good Read?

We'll deliver to your door!

In these challenging and uncertain and with the bookshop now closed for browsing, we're looking at ways to continue bookselling, serve our community and look after your bookish needs, BUT, from a distance.

We are your book lifeline!

Every order we receive gives us a little boost!

You can place orders by:

Phone: 01691 662244 (Phoned manned between 10am-2pm) or leave a message
Email: hello@bookabookshop.co.uk
Social media: Twitter @bookabookshop Facebook @bookabookshop

If we don't have the books you're after in stock, we can easily order most titles, and get them to you.

If you have an enquiry, just contact us by any of the above means, we will be only too pleased to help.

Home Delivery - We'll deliver to your door!

We're offering FREE home delivery to customers within a 10-mile radius of the bookshop.

For those further afield, we'll post out for a small charge (£2.75).

In addition, we're delighted to be partnering with our Church Street neighbours, Gillhams, to co-ordinate home delivery of groceries and books.

All you need to do is place orders with both of us and we'll do the rest, coordinate, and deliver to your door!

Book Clubs

All meetings of our adult and children's book clubs have been postponed until further notice.

Those attending our children's book clubs will continue to receive their book club reads while the coronavirus situation continues.

Friends of Booka Facebook Group

We have set up a Friends of Booka Facebook Group in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic.

It is a space for ideas, community spirit and book recommendations. All our bookselling team are admins and will continue to be at your disposal throughout (and on the other side of) the crisis at hand.

Please do continue to place orders via the hello@bookabookshop email address or by phone on 01691 662244 rather than within the Facebook group
