Future Development of Ruyton XI Towns

I'm posting this as one of your Parish Councillors - though this is not an official Parish Council communication. It is in response to the various Facebook Posts, Blog Posts, eMails and Fly Postings which have happened on this subject.

The Parish Council raised the subject of House Building in Ruyton XI Towns in the Annual Parish Meeting on 26th March - minutes can be found here

An explanation of why we were doing this was given to the 31 residents present and we encouraged everyone to spread the word about the consultation. However it is acknowledged that those of you who have heard about this second hand or who have picked up one of the questionnaires we placed at Cafe XI may be lacking some of the background information.

The present government are pushing for more houses to be built. A draft plan from Shropshire Council has been rejected for not being ambitious enough. The Parish Council anticipate that Shropshire Council may fall back on a plan produced in 2018 which identified sites which might be considered for development 'in the Long Term'. The map we are distributing comes from this SLAA Plan and yellow is used to denote Shropshire Council's possible sites. The Parish Council are trying to be proactive in this process and wishes to consult with all residents to try to ascertain which of these areas would cause the least pain if developed. (We recognise that loss of any of our surrounding green fields is likely to cause some pain). If pressed for a contribution towards new housing targets we would advocate developments in the chosen area. In the questionnaire the areas 1,2,3 and 4 represent the general areas in which the SLAA sites are located. They are all sited around Ruyton and not in the rest of the Parish as the Planners favour developments which are close to a 'Community Hub'. However please feel free to propose any other locations/solutions you feel might be appropriate.

This is a consultation to try and judge local views. We appreciate there may be strong opinions on the subject but would appreciate a civilised discussion. Please engage with us through the questionnaire (link below), by attending monthly parish meetings or through our website (where you can also subscribe to receive eMails on our activities). All views are respected so, please, no 'anonymous' communication.
