Dear Blogger
Village Home Front - OUR BOYS
Just walk round the village and `take away` all the modern houses and you will see what a small, close knit community it was in Ruyton XI Towns. Most people had family connections with other families so would have followed news of the lads who had joined up with great interest.

REMEMBER - THE WAR DID NOT END ON VE DAY!
There were still men incarcerated in Japanese POW camps and dying on the Burma Railway, as well as internees in camps in Hong Kong and Shang Hai.
Americans did their bit in the war in Europe and gave many lives on D-Day but Japan was their war, after the attack on Pearl Harbour in Hawaii on 7th December 1941 and the yanks were damned sure they were going to get their own back - by dropping the atom bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
