The Village Hall is about to be be spruced up

In spite of great efforts, we still don`t have have a new Village Hall - so far!  However,  the Parish Council has made great efforts over the years to improve what we have.  Now Colin Case has organised a band of brothers to give the hall a complete refurbishment.  Many thanks Colin and Co.

I have organised a team of eight chaps to redecorate the interior of the Village Hall next week. They will be working on Tues/Wed/Thurs & Friday.

I am hoping this will not affect any of the normal bookings - I am arranging that we will work around them. In particular, we shall be finished at 3:00pm on Tuesday to allow for Happy Feet.

However, it is possible that some of the new paintwork may be a bit tacky - especially the gloss on doors - this can take 12 hours to dry.
We are scrubbing the tiled floors in the Foyer and the two loos downstairs. They will then be polished.  So they will be a bit slippier than usual - be careful!  

We shall also be removing the small safe that was recently opened - to recover the scrap value.  So if anyone sees burly chaps carrying a very heavy safe to my car, please don't call the police!

Many thanks to the Talbot Inn for their generous donation towards the cost of materials and also to B&Q for allowing a discount on the paint etc.

Scarecrow trail at Weston Lullingfields

 

Scarecrow Day/Garden Trail      

Weston Lullingfields.

 

Sunday 27^th May 2012       10.00am - 4.00pm

 

This event went very well last year and this was due to a large extent to the wonderfully imaginative scarecrows exhibited.

The standard was very high.

 

The Scarecrow theme this year is  - 

 

          “Best of Britain”    

 

Some gardens will be open for viewing - there will be an Art Exhibition by local artists and refreshments in the Village Hall and we will also be able to offer teas in some gardens along the trail.

There will be a trail quiz and raffle and other entertainments.

 

Start things off at the Village Hall – easy parking.

Come along and join in the fun!

Why not join the new Community Wildlife Group
Community groups have been mapping Shropshire’s habitats and surveying local wildlife. In
2011 participating groups mapped 3000 hectares of habitat in 22 parishes and carried out
surveys for dragonflies, water voles, bats, butterflies and otters.
A Community Wildlife Group is now being set up in Ruyton parish. The aim is to bring together
people interested in nature to do something positive for local wildlife. The group will be given
free training to help them record, monitor and conserve wildlife.
In 2012 there will be series of events across north Shropshire, run by experts, showing you
how to identify particular species and providing an insight into their ecology. This is a great
opportunity to get out in the countryside, help local wildlife and have fun.
