Ruyton Village Hall has had a makeover

Message from Colin Case.

There have been several improvements to our Village Hall recently.

Many of you will recall that a Team of Prisoners from Market Drayton spent several weeks redecorating the inside and the woodwork outside (and the Memorial Hall as well)

This revealed a problem with the East Wall - the "back" wall opposite the Stage. Great lumps of plaster have been coming off, and much of the rest was "blown". This damage was the result of some very old plaster (the Hall celebrates its 100th Birthday next year) combined with the cold conditions causing condensation etc.
We were fortunate enough to win a grant from our Local Joint Committee to get this repaired and insulated - many thanks to Corrie and the LJC Team. This work has just been completed by a local contractor - it just needs a few volunteers to paint it to match the rest of the Hall to finish it off. So many thanks to Paul, and the users who have continued to use the Hall during this sometimes dusty work. We want to get it completed in time for the Panto next week.

Some tiles had become dislodged on the North East corner of the slate roof. Although not leaking, we decided it needed fixing before the ravages of Winter, This has been done and the edges pointed.

Thirdly, the Village Hall Committee have purchased some cushions, or "seat pads" to add a bit of warmth and comfort to our plastic chairs. I don't normally advertise in these emails, but I have to mention the contribution made by the Manager of the Range at Harlescote who gave us a substantial reduction on their price, which was already very competitive - so thanks to them.

Let's hope lots of people come to see the Panto next week (4th - 7th December) to enjoy these improvements and make our combined efforts worthwhile - see you there - Oh! Yes I will!

Farmers Market at Ruyton School

Message from Colin Case.
FARMERS` MARKET
at St John the Baptist Primary School
TOMORROW,    OR TODAY if it is Thursday 28th November from 3:30 til 6:00

Many of the children will be selling things they have made, as well as some commercial stalls.

In particular children of all ages have made some really lovely Christmas Cards and I noticed this afternoon that Class 2 were making Sugar Mice - and despite the minor mess I am certain they will taste absolutely super.

Several of our new group of Rainbows were involved in the cooking - maybe there is a cooking badge!

Anyway, come along tomorrow afternoon and see what they have been up to - I am sure you will be impressed!
