Don`t miss - Medieval battle and home life

Message from Wendy Lowdon.

Some friends and I went to the Knights at Whittington and it was really good.  The information about money, weapons, food and fighting was intelligent.  The actual battle was realistic and with slapstick elements that made it very entertaining.  I thought it appealing for children and adults.

The re-enactors are still living and battling it out at Whittington Castle today - Synday 25th June from 11 until 2.

Qube Gallery - 1 week for Open Art entreis

Message from Qube, Oswestry

There's still a week to go for Qube Open Art entries!

There is one week left to get your entries in for the Qube Arts Open 2017!

This increasingly popular event attracts artists from across the country, with entries reflecting a set theme. Anyone is eligible to enter and works can be of any medium, 2D, 3D or digital.

The theme for 2017 is 'New Horizons'.

A £500 cash prize is awarded to the winning artist, decided by an independent panel of judges. There is also a People's Choice Prize for the artist with the most public votes. The winner of this will receive their own 4 week exhibition at Qube the following year.

An exhibition of shortlisted entries will be held at Qube and the winner of the Best in Show prize will be announced at a Prize Giving evening at the beginning of the exhibition. This evening always draws a big crowd and is a great opportunity for artists to meet and network with others.

The last day for entries is 30th June 2017. Pick up an entry pack from Qube, by emailing art@qube-oca.org.uk or by downloading from our website
www.qube-oca.org.uk.

Message from Sue Ellis at Whittington Castle.

Come and See the Knights fighting at Whittington Castle this weekend.  £2 per adult and £1 per child.

The Feast of Arms encourages audience participation by cheering for favoured knights and booing the baddies.
Knights in Battle members are available to talk to members of the public throughout the day and let them get hands-on experience of the weapons and armour used in the tournament. Where conditions allow archery may be displayed to.

Draft Programme for the Weekend Event
