Park Hall Farm - loads of half term fun for the children

Join us for Winter Fun on the Farm!

This February half term Park Hall re-opens just in time for the arrival of our new baby lambs! Come and meet the lambs, along with all the farm animals who have missed seeing you.

To celebrate the Winter Olympics in Beijing during February, we will be having our own sporting fun. Imagine you're hurtling down a mountain on a luge on our drop slide, try some curling in the barn or pose for a photo on our podium.
The Winter Olympics mascot is an adorable Panda, which has inspired our very own bear trail, with 8 different species of bear to find around the farm. Complete the trail and take home a medal!

There will also be a special visit from a Chinese dragon!

Access to all our indoor and outdoor play areas, role play village, sand and water play, music room and science area will all be included in the ticket cost.

We hope you can join us for Winter Fun on the Farm this February half term from Saturday 19th to Sunday 27th February 2022.

Book Tickets!
We can't wait to see you again this February!

Best wishes,
Farmer Richard, the team and all the animals

Removal boxes available in several sizes.

Message from Sue Boulding

We still have some removals boxes if anyone needs them.

Various sizes, very sturdy (would like them passed on afterwards unless used for storage, as they're good for a couple more removals).

They've been flattened and stored in the dry.

Best wishes

Booka Bookshop talk by Jess Phillips MP

Message from Booka Bookshop, Oswestry.

Booka Bookshop Presents...

Join us for an evening with Jess Phillips as she talks about her life as an MP, lifting the lid on what a career in politics is really like.

There is nobody in Westminster quite like Jess Phillips. Labour MP for Birmingham Yardley since 2015 and Shadow Minister (Home Office) she is fearless, funny and full of straight talking wisdom, with the reputation of a people's champion. Her book, The Life of an MP: Everything You Really Need to Know About Politics is published in paperback on 14th April.

From agonising decisions on foreign air strikes to making headlines about orgasms, from sitting in on history-making moments at the UN to eating McCain potato smiles at a black-tie banquet in China, the life of a politician is never dull. And it's also never been more important. But politics is far bigger than Westminster, and in this book Jess Phillips makes the compelling case for why now, more than ever, we all need to be a part of it.

With trademark humour and honesty, Jess Phillips lifts the lid on what a career in politics is really like and why it matters – to all of us. This is the inside story of what's really going on.

'This book is here to take you inside the daily realities of Westminster. I don't mean that it's going to bore you to death with a blow by blow account of what it's like to sit on the Statutory Instrument Debate on Naval regulations 1968-2020 – but to demystify the places and practice of politics.'

We're delighted to welcome Jess Phillips to Oswestry for what should be a hugely informative, revealing and entertaining event!

Oswestry Library Friends - so much more than lending books

Message from Wendy Lowdon.

Oswestry Library Friends is run by volunteers and our group concentrates on fundraising, on raising the profile of Oswestry Library, on Community Outreach and on financing projects and events (such as talks and children's activities) which are held in the library. I wonder if you would be able to publicise this group, please, as we are wishing to increase the number of the committee.

Oswestry Library provided, and still provides, essential support to local people. They were invaluable during the pandemic by providing local people with direct contact and resources to make their isolation more endurable. Its services are free to the public and it as a safe and warm place. Joining Oswestry Library Friends is an opportunity to make sure this wonderful provision and the lovely staff are able to continue and expand the work they do in the community.

Regards,

I can be contacted via the following websites: foolsecretary@gmail.com or wendylodwick@hotmail.co.uk

If people wish to volunteer at the library is other capacities, I suggest they ring Oswestry Library on 01743 250351.

The Head Librarian in Oswestry Library is Siobhan Shaw
