Planning applications

Message from Colin Case.

There is a Parish Council Meeting on Monday 21st July at 7:30pm in the Victoria Room at which two Planning Applications of interest will be discussed.

There is an application to build 7 double-kennels for Boarding Dogs. Although formally in the Parish of Baschurch, this will obviously be of interest to many residents of Ruyton XI Towns in view of its proximity to homes in our Parish. Although the formal date for comments has passed, our Clerk has sought dispensation to submit our comments on 22nd and this has been granted by Shropshire Council Planners.

The second application is for "Change of Use" of the Memorial Hall to allow it to be rented to a family who want to open it as a Tea Room.
The Chair of the Village Hall Charity (David White) has prepared the following to explain the reasoning.

As usual, there is a Public Session during which members of the Public can make their views known or ask questions.

MEMORIAL HALL UPDATE.

The Hall no longer has any regular bookings as the last two organisations that used it i.e. The WI and the Parish Council have moved out.

The Village Hall Committee are the Managing Trustees of both halls and are responsible for all aspects of running and managing the halls.

We are faced with a hall with no income and but still had significant costs in standing charges and maintenance bills, therefore incurring losses.

We looked at several options, and still are. The current option is to rent the hall to a business that wishes the change the use of the hall to be able to serve drinks and cakes and operate as a tea room.

This fits in with the Charitable status of the committee in that the Halls should be used for the benefit of the community.

All of the appropriate permissions necessary to enable this to take place are the responsibility of the renter.

Planning permissions are needed for the change of use and this can be found on the Shropshire Planning Portal no 14/02872/COU where any member of the public can make a comment.

The application will also be considered by the Parish Council at their meeting on July 21st and again anybody can make their views known during the public session of the meeting.
