Artist Talk with Photographer Nigel A. Ball

Saturday 28th November, 11am, Main Gallery, free event.
Nigel A Ball Photography specialises in night and astronomy based imagery, photographs that show the night sky in context with landscape. Each image requires meticulous planning and Nigel will talk about the story behind some of the images currently displayed in the gallery. He will also discuss the technique used to capture each image and the subsequent processing, mounting and framing to produce the finished limited edition image.

Upcoming Workshops

This year our Workshops have been very popular – with most selling out and the tutors now planning courses for 2016 (We'll post details on our website when confirmed)
For this year, we have just two places left on our final course;

Batik on Tissue with Jenny O'Leary
Saturday 28th November, 10am to 4pm, £35
A rare opportunity to explore and enjoy an exciting contemporary approach to Batik. Jenny is a very skilled teacher with great enthusiasm for her subject. All materials provided by Artist and participants will come away with not only inspiration to continue working at home themselves, but with work they have created throughout the day.
Bookings essential due to limited spaces. Come along and have fun, bring an apron and washing up gloves! No previous experience necessary.

Live Music 2016The Willow's Live music evenings for 2016 will start with -

Phillip Henry and Hannah Martin: Saturday 13th February 2016
8:00pm (doors open 7:00pm)  £12 (£6 Children)
Exceptional multi-instrumentalists Phillip Henry and Hannah Martin have proved they are in a league of their own after winning the coveted Best Duo title at the 15th Radio 2 Folk Awards at the Albert Hall.
Singer, song writer Hannah Martin is a skilled fiddler, viola and banjo player with a real lightness of touch, a distinctive voice and a gift for tapping traditional music veins to create contemporary song. Her songs weave Folklore and Legend, old and new with beautiful melodies, creating haunting compositions delivered with bold and beautiful singing.
Phillip is one of the Uk's finest slide guitarists having studied in Calcutta with India's premier slide guitarist Debashish Bhattacharya. Phillip is also a virtuoso on the harmonica, his innovative playing combines country blues and folk styles with beat-boxing to create a jaw dropping and much converted 21st century harmonica sound heavily steeped in tradition.
"This duo have brought something quite original to the genre with their haunting mixture of English, Irish, Indian and Celtic textures." Steve Knightley

Jamie Smith's MABON;  Wednesday 2nd March 2016
8:00pm (doors open 7:00pm) £12 (Children £6)
Jamie Smith's MABON are Wales' finest purveyors of original InterCeltic music.
As comfortable on a world music stage as in a folk setting, theirs is a music that travels beyond borders to explore the forms and styles of the Celtic traditions and work them anew. Through songs and melodies, from thoughtful lyrics to joyful jigs, graceful mazurkas to ecstatic muñera, here is a band that can take you on an emotional journey.
More than just a show, more than inspired composition and skilful arrangement, you can expect to witness the joy of creating music expressed in dynamic, virtuosic performance.
