Problems with the Mailing List

Hi everyone,

I have sent out 6 mails to the mailing list over the last few days - none of which have apparently been delivered.

As before, this problem has been caused by someone`s computer reporting my emails as spam.

If it happens again, it is possible we can identify the culprit, and if we do find out the culprit, rest assured you will be deleted from the mailing list!

Surely it is not beyond the wit of man to direct your computer to accept all emails from Yoland the then delete the ones which do not interest you!!!!!!!!

Next Shrewsbury Repair Cafe - Saturday 17th June

On Saturday I went to the Shrewsbury Repair Cafe, opposite Wilkinsons, it is within the art gallery there.

My old toaster was not doing its job as efficiently as it should and my new toaster is rubbish!

I returned after an hour to collect my old friend, restored to full working order, and was more than happy to give my donation for a job well done.

The Repair Cafe`s Facebook page is just Shrewsbury repair cafe. 

The next Repair Cafe day is Saturday June 17th, Simon will be there again on electricals, Jim on mechanical items and Sue on textiles, not sure who else yet.

The idea of the repair cafe is very simple, if it is broke, rather than throw it away, bring it in and we will try and fix it.

The idea is to create a culture where people do not simply throw something away if it is broken, but try to get it fixed, which saves both money and resources.

What can we fix?

Torches, lamps, radios, ornaments, bikes, jumpers etc.

If it is small enough to carry in, we can try to fix it.

There is a small team of fixers doing a great job who volunteer their services and time once a month.

There is no charge but we do ask for donations.

Loton Park Speed Hill Climb

VSCC at Loton Park

Next weekend, 27th and 28th May, Loton Park Speed Hill Climb will be run by the Vintage Sport Car Club - a real feast of great cars, some 100 years old, belting up the track intent on beating their previous time, or that of their nearest rival!  See attached images.

Take a picnic and let the children charge about in the woods.

10TH & 11TH JUNE  Rounds 9 & 10 of the British Hillclimb Championship are set to take place at Loton Park in what will be an extremely competetive meeting. This will be a weekend you definitely cant afford to miss!

Bodnant has the best!

Of course Bodnant Gardens in North Wales has the wonderful and famous

LABURNAM TUNNEL

But did you know there is another LABURNAM TUNNEL right on your doorstep?

Wheras at Bodnant, two rows of trees, all cloned to flower at the same time, form a tunnel some 4 metres wide,

The LABURNUM TUNNEL at Brownhill House is one row of trees, planted from a packet of seeds, and asked to grow up, over and down the other side, makeing a tunnel barely 1 metre wide.

When the gardener in charge of the wonderful tunnel at Bodnant saw photographs of ours he said "if I had not seen the photographs, I would not have believed it was possible"!

The Laburnum is looking great right now so don`t wait until we are open on 30th May as I fear it will be over by then.  Drop me an email or phone 261 121 and arrange to come this week.
