New woodland at The Spinney

Message from David Sheran, Parish Council.

New woodland at The Spinney A new woodland is going to be planted in the area known as The Spinney (this is the area across the footbridge from the Doctor's Meadow playing field). Around 300 native trees (oak, horse chestnut, hawthorn, silver birch, maple, cobnut, rowan, apple and crab apple) will be planted during November. A small working party are going to prepare the site and plant a significant number of trees on Friday 23 November. On Monday 26 November most of the school will be involved in planting the rest of the trees. Eleven of the oaks will be larger than the rest and the idea is that they will represent each of the Eleven Towns. We are looking for members of the community or local businesses to sponsor one of these oaks for £50. The money raised will be donated to the Hope House Hospice. If you are interested then please ring Simon Gittins on 07947 953040 or David Shearan on 07816 534716. The oak representing Ruyton has already been assigned to the school, the other ten oaks will be assigned by lucky dip to the sponsors who donate £50. If you are free on Friday 23 November and would like to be part of the working party then please let Simon or David know. This is what the site looks like now.
