Following a number of years teaching English and Welsh, he became a freelance writer and translator in 1996. Did you know that we have a team of volunteers who provide one on one IT support for customers at the library? They will sit with you, either using your own device or one of our library computers, and help you to work through whatever issue it is you're having, be it setting up an email address, or learning to navigate your first smartphone. The support is completely free, but MUST be pre-booked as volunteers are available by appointment only. (or pass this information on to somebody you know who may not be able to access this email) Learning at Lunchtime: Introduction to Astronomy with BBC Radio's Peter Williamson Wednesday 12 December 2018 - 12:30-1:30pm Aimed at the absolute novice, Understanding Astronomy, from our Earth to distant galaxies using photographs taken by Pete Williamson, Shropshire Astronomer! Peter Williamson is an astronomer, broadcaster with the BBC and fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society. He began his astronomical journey in 1967, as a child growing up in Worcestershire, and has dedicated his long career to sharing his passion for the stars with others. He moved to rural Shropshire in 1989, taking advantage of the quiet countryside and dark skies to continue his study, and helped to found the Shropshire Astronomical Society. He now travels the length and breadth of the country delivering talks and workshops on the mysteries of space. He is also the creator of AstroRadio, a radio channel dedicated to fans of stargazing. £3 per head. Please book with library staff. Rhyme Time at the Library!
