Anti-Bullying: A workshop for adults with Lise McNamara Saturday 17 November 1-3 pm 1-in-5 of all young people in U.K. have witnessed bullying within the past 12 months, with 50% of them witnessing it at least once a month. Join Lise McNamara, Well-being and Working Environment Facilitator, for an exploration into bullying, what it is, how it works, why people bully, and how we can break the cycle permanently. Lise will present the newest research from Denmark, where the numbers are now decreasing, with a social-psychological focus. This talk will share a different approach to tackling bullying. In association with Anti-Bullying Week 2018 Lise McNamara has a 30 year background as an Occupational Therapist, 20 of those as a Consultant in psychosocial, well-being, ergonomics and working environment. 3 years ago she became an accredited Kinesiologist practitioner and teacher of Kinesiology. | Learning at Lunchtime: Anecdotes of an RAF pilot, with Group Captain Jon Fynes RAF (ret'd) Wednesday 21 November 2018 - 12:30-1:30pm In a career lasting 35 years, Jon flew over 40 different aircraft and amongst many roles was responsible for the Red Arrows, chosen to be the RAF Pallbearer at the Queen Mother's funeral, jousted with 1600 media reps as the RAF spokesman for Gulf War 2 and even had a complete episode of Blue Peter tackling an unusual challenge with his son. Most events, no matter how serious or important, tend to have amusing elements, many of which are never discussed in public. Jon intends sharing some of his, including what almost went wrong at the funeral of Her Majesty The Queen Mother. Sunday 4 November, 2-3pm As part of the Wilfred Owen 100 celebrations, Shrewsbury Heritage, Shropshire Archives and Shropshire Arts Service have come together with Oswestry Library and Designs in Mind to install a commemorative bench at the library. The bench has been custom designed, off the back of creative workshops with poet Jonny Fluffypunk, and inspired by the life and works of Wilfred Owen. Come along to hear more about this fascinating project, the creative process behind it, and the collaborations that made it happen. Helen McPhail will be talking about her new short illustrated book on Wilfred Owen's years of growing up in Shrewsbury.
