Dear Blogger
IMPORTANT Covid information from Shopshire Council
Helping to keep you informed of the latest coronavirus news in Shropshire. | | More Shropshire residents can now get vaccinated against COVID-19 with the opening of the county's new dedicated Vaccination Centres in Ludlow and Shrewsbury. The new centres at Ludlow Racecourse and Shrewsbury Indoor Bowls Centre opened their doors to the public this week and are be capable of vaccinating thousands of people every week as national supplies of the vaccine allow. | | Free shuttle services are now operating to help get people to their vaccination appointments. The Ludlow shuttle buses run every 15 minutes (07:45 – 20:12 daily) starting from the Park and Ride, onto the main bus stop in Corve Street, down to the vaccination centre at the Ludlow Racecourse. This is a circular route. The Shrewsbury services run every 20 minutes throughout the day, with Shuttle VS1 running from 0735 until 2015, and Shuttle VS2 running from 07:45 until 19:45 daily. The shuttles will serve key locations around Shrewsbury. VS1 - Bayston Hill, Meole Brace – Moneybrook Way, Abbey Foregate – Shirehall and Monkmoor Road VS2 - Harlescott Park and Ride site and Coton Hill. | | With the opening of two-new large vaccination centres, it means we can continue to build on the good work that has happened so far as of 3 February. There was further good news as Shropshire's figures continue to move in the right direction. 419 fewer cases were recorded last week – and we would like to thank everyone for their continued efforts in helping to stop the spread. However, there has been a case of the South African strain of the virus reported in the West Midlands. This strain moves more quickly from person to person. There's no reported case yet in Shropshire, but we do expect to see further cases across the region. The council is operating a number of rapid flow testing sites across the county for anyone to obtain a coronavirus test. These are at: - Shrewsbury: The Lantern, Meadow Farm Drive, Harlescott, Shrewsbury, SY1 4NG, daily – 8am-8pm
- Craven Arms: Craven Arms Community Centre, Newington Way, Craven Arms, Shropshire, SY7 9PS, Sundays – Fridays – 8am-8pm
These tests are available for key workers who are asymptomatic. If you have symptoms, you can also get tested at the following sites across Shropshire: - Ludlow: Smithfield Car Park, Lower Galdeford, Ludlow SY8 1RN (8am-8pm)

We are also encouraging anyone to consider getting tested as a precaution if you have any of the following less common symptoms: Shortness of breath Headaches Aches and pains Feeling very tired for no good reason Sore throat Runny nose Sneezing Sometimes 'tummy ache' in children There are a number of testing sites across Shropshire which can be booked online or by calling 119.
