Gardebs Open for NGS

TWO GARDENS OPEN NEXT WEEKEND

Albrighton Trust Moat and Gardens open on Saturday 9th April 11 am to 3 pm
Blue House Lane, Albrighton, WV7 3FLOff A41 close to Albrighton Station and RAF Cosford.
This ever-changing garden is opening early this year to showcase their mass planting of spring bulbs.  The 13th century manor house around which the gardens are built is no longer visible but the moat has been restored and is now teeming with fish and is also a haven for wildlife, actively encouraged by the sympathetic planting.  The Trust is an educational facility, teaching disabled youngsters fishing, gardening and woodworking, always with the environment and conservation in mind.  The gardens are wheelchair accessible and there are disabled toilets available.  Child friendly - a perfect place to visit for all the family.  Plants and teas sold in aid of Albrighton Trust.

Edge Villa Sunday 10th April 2 - 5 pm.  Edge, nr Yockleton, Shrewsbury SY5 9PY.  6 miles SW of Shresbury.  From A5 take either A488 to Bishops Castle or B4386 to Montgomery for approx. 6 miles then follow NGS signs.
Two acres nestling in the South Shropshire hills.  Self-sufficient vegetable plot, large herbaceous borders.  Dewpond surrounded by purple elder, irises, candelabra primulas and dieramas.  Extensive plant sale in aid of NGS charities.  Wheelchair accessible but some gravel paths.  Home-made teas.
The admission for both these gardens is £5.00 for adults.  Children are admitted free at all Shropshire gardens.
IMPORTANT NOTICE:   The Albrighton Trust Moat and Gardens will be opening again on Saturday 25th June but NOT on Sunday 26th June as previously advertised.

Dame Mary Berry launches this year's Great British Garden Party,  sharing a love of gardens and great causes
Dame Mary Berry, President of the National Garden Scheme and the Nation's undisputed Queen of Cakes, is championing the Great British Garden Party as it enters its third, delicious year in 2022.
This major fundraising event, designed by the National Garden Scheme to share the Nation's love of gardens and to raise vital funds for some of the UK's best-loved nursing and health charities, builds on a rich heritage of great gardens, great cakes and great causes.
Speaking about the initiative Dame Mary Berry said: "As President of the wonderful National Garden Scheme, I am delighted to invite you to join me in hosting a Great British Garden Party this year.
"We're inviting everyone - it doesn't matter whether your garden is large or small, tidy or untidy - to join in and help raise funds for vital nursing and health charities; charities that so many of us, our family and friends often rely on in times of need.
"We've been so inspired by previous party hosts and their ingenious variations on the garden party theme, tailoring their events to their outside spaces and to their families and friends. Some simply threw open their garden gates and invited their neighbours for afternoon tea, making new friends. But your garden party could be anything from a barbecue or family bake-off, prosecco by candlelight, a coffee morning and book swap or even a plant and produce sale by the front gate – the choice is yours and everyone can get involved."
The official Great British Garden Party dates are Saturday 16th – Sunday 24th July, but you can choose any day across the summer that is best for you.
Joining the Great British Garden Party couldn't be simpler.  Sign up on the National Garden Scheme website, invite your guests and the National Garden Scheme event team will support you all the way.
