Message from Eluned Watson, The Derwen College, Gobowen
The Derwen College VINTAGE ADVANTAGE shop has won an award at the National Charity Retail Awards - the `Oscars` of the charity shop world.
A one-off Shropshire charity shop, which teaches young adults with special educational needs and disabilities valuable work skills, has won a national award against the UK's best-known high street charity shops.
To win an award for innovation against national charities such as Scope, Barnardo's, Oxfam and British Heart Foundation, is phenomenal!
The charity shop is part of the specialist further education college's customer 'Marketplace' where students also learn work skills in a café, restaurant, garden centre and gift shop, and small hotel.
I understand buying second hand is all the rage in the present climate of saving the planet, not to mention our wallets, so do please visit VINTAGE ADVANTAGE, buy plants at the Derwen`s plant centre and enjoy lunch or a drink and cakes at the cafe.
