Writing as Therapy, with Dave Andrews

Wed 1 February & Thu 16 February 10-12noon

Writing is an excellent way of celebrating the good things in life and also coming to terms with setbacks. Whether it's keeping a diary, writing a poem or a story or even a letter to yourself, writing is a way of expressing and externalizing feelings. I speak from experience as someone who kept diaries and wrote poems during tough times - and good times! If you would like to explore the idea of writing as therapy, please come along to one of my sessions.

Free, but please book your place. Refreshments provided (donations welcome)

Climbing the Munros with Dave Andrews

Tue 28 February 11-12noon

The Munros are the 282 separate mountains over 3,000 feet in Scotland. Many hillwalkers are busy trying to 'bag' them all. Our Reader/Writer in Residence, Dave Andrews, has visited every summit. In this talk he recalls the stunning mountain scenery of Scotland, the companionship of fellow walkers and the culture and people of a country he has grown to love. He also tells us about spending nights alone (apart from mice!) in remote mountain bothies, making a navigation error which took him 20 miles off course and being caught in an avalanche, rescuing two of his companions.

Free but please book your place. Refreshments provided (donations welcome)
