We're back for the latest news and updates from us here at Qube! |
From recruiting and training even more invaluable Cancer Champions to networking opportunities with people from fantastic community organisations, and the difficult task of deciding the finalists from our fantastic array of Summer Open Art entries to the hosting of our first ever book swap, it's fair to say May was quite a busy month for us here at Qube.
Keep up-to-date with the latest news over on the news section of our website or contact us on 01691 656882 or email info@qube-oca.org.uk |
| Having Life Changing Conversations You may know that we're working alongside Lingen Davies Cancer Fund to deliver the Cancer Champions campaign across Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin. We're absolutely delighted in the interest of the programme and we now have 67 fabulous Cancer Champions successfully trained and on board.
If you would like to learn more about becoming a Cancer Champion then please get in touch! It's something that you can build into everyday life and you don't need any previous experience. Miranda Ashwell, LiveLife Lead and her fantastic team of Cancer Champions Co-ordinators Holly Corrigan and Michelle Moore provide you with all the training and support you need to get your Cancer Champion role underway. |

Record Number Of Entries To Our Summer Art Open Michele Coxon's eclectic exhibition has sadly come to an end, however, it's time we made way for the fantastic entries of our Summer Art Open Competition. The calibre of this year's entries is phenomenal, and deciding on the final shortlist has been an incredibly tough decision for this year's judges. Make sure you pop in to take a look around and cast your vote for the People's Choice Award!

| Could you be a Community Car Driver? Aside from our Dial-a-Ride service, which consists of our fleet of minibuses and accessible vehicles, we also offer a community car service too! This service allows volunteer drivers to use their own car (expenses paid) to offer invaluable travel options to those that aren't able to access public transport or do not have use of their own car. This could be anything from travel to a hospital appointment to taking someone on a family visit outside of the area. If you enjoy driving the open roads and would like to give something back to the local community then please get in touch to find out more about our Community Car Driving Opportunities.

Fancy joining us at a Community Connectors Meeting? Our Social Prescribing Community Development Officer, Lou Woolcock hosts regular Community Connector Network meetings in North Shropshire. These meetings are accessible to anyone who works within the voluntary and community sector and representatives from a whole host of public health services regularly attend. It's a brilliant opportunity to network and share about all the many amazing community support services in the local area.
May's meeting took place online with over 25 groups and organisations represented. There were presentations from HAF (Holiday Activities and Food Programme), West Mercia Violence Against Women and Girlsteam and helpful information was shared by Shropshire Voluntary and Community Sector Assembly.
The next meeting is in person on Wednesday 14th June at 10 am-12 pm at North Shropshire College. If you would like to attend or to find out more information about the network, please contact Lou by emailing l.woolcock@qube-oca.org.uk

| Book Swap Success! On 27th May 2023 we hosted our very first book swap and we couldn't be happier with how it went. Despite the absolutely gorgeous weather, the swap was really well attended and many people were able to refresh their book stash. We'll be cooking up another swap soon so keep your eyes peeled for details!
