Winding-up of the Baschurch Residents Action Group (BRAG)

Donation Towards a Defibrillator for Baschurch

It was a pleasure to hand over a Cheque for £1,202 to the Baschurch Heartbeat Team to help them purchase another Defibrillator.

The money had been raised by the Baschurch Residents' Action Group (BRAG) – an organisation formed in 2009 to raise money to help implement elements of the Baschurch Parish Plan. I have been Treasurer of the Group since its inception.

The BRAG Team had raised over £1,600 by a variety of activities in the Parish, including the Family Fun Day at the Corbet in 2010.

We have recently donated £390 to purchase a Petrol Strimmer to help keep local footpaths clear for the Walking for Health Group and others.

Having decided to “wind-up” BRAG, we considered what to do with the balance of our funds, and concluded that a Defibrillator for the Heartbeat Team was a worthy cause that fitted our objective to support the Baschurch Parish Plan.

Many thanks to the individuals, organisations and companies that have supported BRAG over the last four years – we hope you will all agree that we have chosen a super local cause.

It was good to meet Alan Wright and John Prescott (Chair and Treasurer of Heartbeat) – and the conversation soon turned to other local issues. The speed and volume of traffic, including HGVs, is always a bone of contention on the main road through Baschurch - we presented the cheque outside Byways (Jo George is Chair of BRAG) and the passing traffic was very noticeable.
