Message from Richard Arrowsmith at Weston Lullingfields C of E  primary school.

Richard is looking for people to bring the children`s lessons to life.

I would love to help but it seems I have had a very boring life!   Please contact Richard if you have had an experience to impart to the children, I am sure they would be delighted (much better than school books)!

IS YOUR BIRTHDAY ON FEBRUARY 29TH?

HAVE YOU EVER CROSSED A DESERT, BEEN IN THE JUNGLE OR AT THE NORTH/SOUTH POLE?

IF SO, READ ON (but please read on in any case!)

LEAP YEARS

Since this is a leap year and the 29th falls on a school day, we want to mark the day in some memorable way. The children will need to learn about Leap Years - what they are and why they happen, but we thought it would be a good idea if we could find people who were born on the 29th and invite them to school or to send the children a message. We could  even have a birthday party for them in school – and get them to tell the children how they have celebrated their birthdays during their life and what it feels like to only get a real birthday every four years. We are currently at the planning stage for this event and will mould it around  responses we get. Please make contact with Paula at the school if anyone in your family is a Leap Year baby! EXTREME ENVIRONMENTS

We are hoping to find someone in the community who has had direct personal experience of an extreme environment such as crossing a desert, living in the Arctic or Antarctic, or explored a jungle or sailed an ocean. This is because extreme environments are a main topic of this term's work in school and we want to bring it to life for the children by listening to someone talking about it. We want to tie this in to our second Creative Learning Day during which children will work together in mixed-age groups to plan and build a shelter which could withstand rain and wind. The date currently set for this is Thursday March 24th though this could be changed if necessary. Please let me know if you could contribute to this exciting possibility.  (richard.arrowsmith@btinternet.com)
