The Government's actions around Serious Violence are both welcome and necessary. Violent crime has increased nationwide and is a reflection of society as a whole. It isnÆt therefore a problem that we can simply æpoliceÆ our way out of. It needs a whole society solution to address the root causes of violence.

Decrease In Burglary
Burglaries of dwellings have fallen 6%, and of non-dwellings have fallen 7%, ahead of the national trend of a 3% decrease. I made a commitment to make our communities safer, and this is just one example of how this is being achieved.

Specials' New Equipment Benefits Communities
I am extremely pleased to invest in our Special Constables to ensure they receive the same equipment and support as regular officers. This technology has proven it's benefits to both West Mercia Police officers, and the communities they serve. I am certain the same benefits will apply to our Special Constabulary.

"Guardian Angels" For Victims
It is so important that victims of domestic abuse are getting the support they need early on, and I remain committed to ensuring that that happens. I have increased funding to Women's Aid for Dedicated Independent Domestic Violence Advisors (IDVAs) in hospitals across West Mercia to provide victims with early support.

Tackling Business And Rural Crime
I have invested in new vehicles for officers, travelling around the large swathes of countryside that makes up West Mercia û supporting communities and businesses to prevent crime, and cope and recover quickly when it does occur.

Concerns were raised about speeding, lack of pedestrian crossings, inconsiderate parking. We rely on communities letting us know where the problems are, particularly for large areas like this. We want to hear them so we can make a difference. | | Support For Victims Of Modern Slavery
I have allocated funding to provide victims of modern slavery, human trafficking and forced marriage that are in crisis with immediate support. I hope that the funding, to be used when victims need temporary accommodation, will help bring them comfort and support before more permanent living arrangements can be made.
