Welcome to the kinokulture cinema End Of Year Newsletter And what a year it has been! 2020 started out so well, looking like it was going be our best year ever. Which was especially sweet as it was our 10th anniversary of bringing great  cinema to our local community. Then just after our sell out screenings of Parasite at the close of Borderlines Film Festival the world came crashing down and we closed our doors for the first time on 16th March alongside every other cinema in the UK. Two national lockdowns & over 9 months later we want say a huge thank you to all of our wonderful customers and volunteers for your kind words and much needed donations that have helped us through these difficult times. We also want pay our immense gratitude to all of our industry colleagues across the independent cinema sector who have guided and supported us  throughout. The BFI Film Audience Network Exhibition grant that we received through Film Hub Midlands enabled us to continue to programme a diverse range of British & World Cinema during the periods that we have been open. And recently we were thrilled to hear we have received funding from the BFI thanks to the government's Cultural Recovery Fund so that we can continue to be here for you and Here For Culture. Without this funding we would undoubtedly have had to close our doors permanently at the end of December. None of us know what January will bring but we are hoping for a far better 2021. We hope you will continue to come back to us in December & January and help your local independent cinema in staying open during these uncertain times. We need your support now more than ever if we are to make it through beyond March. Wishing you all a very happy and safe time over this festive period. As you would expect we have made some changes at kinokulture to help ensure it is a safer experience for you and our team. Please wear a face covering whilst moving around the building, these can be removed to consume food and drink once seated in the auditorium. We have re-designed the auditorium for 1 Metre + Social distancing and created bespoke seating booths for households and support bubbles to safely enjoy a pre show or interval chat & snack. There has been an update to the new Tier 2 Guidelines our bar/cafe space will now be allowed to sell alcoholic drinks as long as these are only consumed once seated in the auditorium or one of the new pre show seating booths (for households and support bubbles only). We ask that customers observe social distancing while queuing.   All tickets are now allocated and we are encouraging advance booking online.  Although we can no longer take reservations we do however understand that due to the current uncertainties you may prefer to take a chance and buy tickets in person once the doors are open (30 minutes before screening time). We can only accept contactless or card payments. The maximum tickets for any single booking is now 6 which includes children. Our Online Box Office System will automatically block off two seats either side of a booking to allow for social distancing,   TO ENABLE US TO SELL AS MANY TICKETS AS POSSIBLE (AND THEREFORE KEEP GOING!) WE ASK THAT YOU CHOOSE THE NEXT AVAILABLE SEAT WHEREVER POSSIBLE, PLEASE DON'T LEAVE GAPS.     REMEMBER THAT APPROPRIATE SOCIAL DISTANCING WILL ALREADY HAVE BEEN APPLIED BY THE ONLINE BOX OFFICE, YOU DO NOT NEED TO LEAVE ANY SPACES BETWEEN YOUR TICKETS AND OTHER AVAILABLE SEATS. DOING THAT MAY MEAN WE ARE UNABLE TO SELL ENOUGH TICKETS TO BE SUSTAINABLE AS OUR CAPACITY IS AREADY REDUCED to 20%. THANK YOU. The back row now consists of five two seater sofas with social distancing dividers. The Sofas are booked as a two seat block but can also accommodate small children with parents/carers. These tickets do come at a higher price and need to be selected from the Sofa Seat option on the booking page. The building now has a one way flow system with entrance up the main stairway and through the Box Office foyer area. We have opened up a second stair way for exiting the building which leads down to the  bottom of the ground floor corridor. Our ticket pricing for films in December remains the same but in January the Price for the 16-30's concession rate will be £6.00 and the Under 16 ticket price will be £4.00. Current December Ticket prices: £8.00: Adult £7.00: 16-30's/Students/Jobseekers/NHS Staff £5.00: Under 16's With the addition of the Sofa Seats (two seats): £20.00 Prices for Event Cinema vary depending on the distributor Please note there is a booking fee for administration costs    The safety measures put in place are those agreed with the UK Government and public health experts to help ensure your safety. We also have a special one off screening for the 80th anniversary 4K restoration of the Disney all time classic 'Fantasia'. Access our virtual screening room on our website January 2021 We already have some fantastic films lined up for the New Year and are hoping that we will be able to remain open.  We have managed to reschedule the three films that we would have been screening in November for the French film Festival UK  'Notre Dame', 'Au Nom De La Terre' and the new restoration of Jean-Luc Godard's 'Breathless'. Arnie will be blasting onto our screen with the 30th anniversary restoration of 'Total Recall' and we also bring you David Fincher's glorious biopic 'Mank' about Hermon J Mankiewicz, the screenwriter behind Citizen Kane which really does need to be seen on the big screen. Oswestry Film Society will be launching their 15th Season on the 19th January with 'A Beautiful Day In The Neighbourhood'. we would like to say a huge thank you to everyone for all the wonderful kind messages of support and donations.
