Oswestry Ramblers has over 180 members and we offer a varied programme of great walks. We usually walk twice a week, on Thursdays and Sundays. We are a friendly group and like to chat as we walk. There are usually about 10-20 people on our walks. New adult members of all ages are very welcome, you don't have to join immediately but can come as a guest on three walks to try us out.

Some walks are close to Oswestry and others further afield in Shropshire, north and mid Wales, Cheshire and sometimes on the coast. We enjoy exploring villages, woodlands, valleys, and local meres and mosses, as well as the Welsh and Shropshire hills. We also organise social events, group holidays and help maintain and improve nearby footpaths.

Here are details of our upcoming walks, along with links to the Ramblers website where full details of all our walks are available.

A 6-mile leisurely walk from Merrington travelling through lanes, fields and tracks heading towards Myddle. Some climbing but nothing too arduous. Maybe muddy in places but the sandstone area makes it easier to drain. Coffee and lunch stops, bring your own refreshments. For full details please see https://www.ramblers.org.uk/.../merrington-green-myddle

A 7-mile leisurely walk exploring the wide open spaces of Fenn's, Whixall and Bettisfield Mosses National Nature Reserve, on both sides of the border. Our route will be flat and is likely to be squelchy in some places, waterproof boots recommended. From Morris' bridge we will cross Whixall and Fenn's mosses on the trails and visit the viewing tower. Then we will join the old tramway to Bettisfield, circumnavigate Bettisfield Moss and return via a short section of the Ellesmere canal (Prees branch). Please bring your own refreshments for coffee break and lunch. For full details see https://www.ramblers.org.uk/.../fenns-whixall-and...
