Ruyton XI Towns: road safety improvements coming soon
?? Shropshire Council has recently completed the required public notice and consultation period for two planned road safety improvements in Ruyton XI Towns. These upgrades are part of a wider programme of improvement in the village, supported by Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) funding.
The approved improvements are:
?? Puffin crossing upgrade on Church Street: The old zebra crossing will soon become a puffin crossing using sensor-based technology and signals to manage traffic.
?? 'School Keep Clear' markings outside the St John the Baptist CE Primary School: we're proposing installing new formalised 'School Keep Clear' road markings along the school frontage to keep children safe at drop-off and pick-up times.
We've listened to your feedback – from support and concerns about cost, to questions about village character and wider safety issues, in line with national guidance. Every comment has helped shape our approach. Thanks to everyone who got involved.
? What happens next?
The final decision and approval has been given by Shropshire Council's Service Director for Infrastructure.
Works are expected to start on Tuesday, 7th April. The new crossing will be closely monitored once installed to make sure it's working as intended.
If you have any questions about the improvements or upcoming works, please email cilproject@shropshire.gov.uk
Thanks for sharing your views and helping make Ruyton XI Towns safer for everyone
