Shropshire Archives
Options for reduced opening hours, February 2014
You may already be aware that the economic situation is to have a devastating effect on the finances of all local authorities; Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin Councils are having to reduce their budgets considerably. The resultant savings are being passed down to the departments/cabinets and Shropshire Archives are having to contribute by a reduced budget causing a loss of staff and reduced opening hours.
The reduction in service will affect any of our members who wish to visit the Archives whether as a local, regular user or someone who has to travel a distance, including our overseas members. Because we have close ties with the Archives, and much of the material on which we as Family Historians rely is held there, everyone is entitled to a say in the pattern of opening hours.
Shropshire Archives is consulting on options for reductions to opening hours.
Please follow the link to the online survey

The consultation ends at midnight on Sunday 23 March 2014.
The service will be closed from Sunday 30 March and will reopen with the new agreed hours the week beginning 14 April.
