Designer jeweller opens Shrewsbury Market Hall studio

An artisan jeweller, who has been designing and making jewellery for 40 years and has customers across the world, has set up his studio in Shrewsbury Market Hall after moving to the area and becoming inspired by the popular market.

Godfrey Gardner, whose unique designs are influenced by nature and Art Nouveau, moved from North Yorkshire to Shrewsbury a year ago.

The Market has a great atmosphere and is so diverse. I was surprised to find so many artists and craftspeople based here already and many other interesting things going on. Quirky cafes add to the wonderful environment and everyone is so friendly.

Visitors to the market can watch him at work at his jeweller's bench in his studio, located on the gallery floor of the market. Much of his work involves bespoke commissions for engagement and wedding rings. He also takes commissions to convert old jewellery into new pieces.

Godfrey sources his gold from a Peruvian fairtrade gold mine and uses recycled silver alloy, a virtually non-tarnishing and purer silver than Sterling. He also makes pendants, necklaces, earings, bracelets and bangles.
