Improvements to Doctors Meadow playing field Recently there was a suggestion that we should consider how we could make improvements to the Doctors Meadow playing field. This was posted on our local Facebook groups and shared via Yoland's email list. It proposed that a hard surface track should be built round the perimeter and that the football pitch should be brought up to scratch. The communication asked everyone to suggest their own ideas, and there was a plea for people to step forward and help make things happen. There was a great deal of interest, and a lot of ideas for improvements but better still four local residents volunteered to be part of a working group to try to turn this into a reality. Since then the group has created a list of all the ideas received and met twice to decide what the first steps are. Here is what was decided: 1] The first thing was to send this update together with the full list of ideas and invite you to let us know of anything else you can think of. Please do respond by Friday 14 May so that the next step can happen; 2) A simple survey will be distributed that asks everyone to select their top three priorities from the revised list of suggestions - the working group has already decided that the hard surface track will go ahead so you will be asked to choose three others; 3) The results of the survey will be used to determine the most popular ideas; 4) The working group will then be in a position to prepare designs and costs for the selected ideas; 5) Ultimately this should lead to a bid for funding to allow the work to take place. That's the outline plan - it ignores some of the detail like permission from the land owner and planning permission. The group will look at those shortly to see what is needed. So please get your thinking caps on and let us know if you have any other ideas. The current list of suggestions are attached
