Safeguarding Children

Message from Davide Spicer, Chair of Ruyton XI Towns Parish Council.

the Parish Council's initiative to help parents safeguard their children.

 1. the nspcc has on their website very useful information about Protecting children from county lines.

County lines is a form of criminal exploitation where urban gangs persuade, coerce or force children and young people to store drugs and money and/or transport them to suburban areas, market towns and coastal towns. It can happen in any part of the UK.

County lines gangs are highly organised criminal networks that use sophisticated, frequently evolving techniques to groom young people and evade capture by the police.

 The information includes:

·         the risks associated with county lines

·         recognising and responding to concerns about county lines

·         how professionals can work to prevent county lines

·         a summary of the relevant legislation and guidance.

It can be found on the following link.

The report is available here.

"Although these problems are most often found in the most disadvantaged communities, there is a growing number of parents from middle class families struggling to get help when crises occur, such as when they find a burner phone, unexplained amounts of money or knives in their children's bedrooms."
