Flaxmill Maltings coming events

Dear Blogger

Message from Flaxmill Maltings, Shrewsbury

Logo of Shrewsbury Flaxmill Maltings
A film style poster, it looks like it has been hand sewn from felt. On the right is the Back to The Future logo and a flying Delorean with Marty and Doc Brown inside. On the left is the Jaws logo, with a large shark beneath.

Pop-Up Puppet Cinema

Shrewsbury Flaxmill Maltings is excited to bring you the wacky entertainment of the Pop-Up Puppet Cinema, for one night only! Saturday 7 September.

Pop-Up Puppet Cinema is best described as Punch and Judy colliding with cinema. Watch in wonder as the team condenses two classic cult films – Back to the Future And Jaws into live puppet shows, mocking the originals with warmth and admiration.

This show is ideal for for cinema and puppet enthusiasts alike. Bring your inner nerd and inner child with you for a night of fun, movies, and mayhem!

Flaxmill Voices

The team at Shrewsbury Flaxmill Maltings have been working with light and sound artist Andy McKeown to record local people saying the names of some of the many Flaxmill workers and their families.

On Friday 27 to Sunday 29 September, Andy will return with an immersive light show in the Dye House over three days, accompanied by an immersive soundscape of the recorded names.

Additional recording of names will take place in a sound booth during each afternoon (12 until 4pm) and those who have already recorded can return to 'clock on' on a board with the card they received. This board will then be preserved, becoming a work in its own right.
