| Friendly Oswestry Shorter days but plenty of time to enjoy Oswestry, a busy Shropshire market town. Don't miss Apple Day. Our friendly street market becomes an Apple Market on October 5th. Everything apple from tastings to growing tips and family activities. Longer evenings suggest getting to know Oswestry's pubs. Enjoy traditional ales from the local brewery, live music and quizzes, there is always something going on in the Oswestry pub scene. |

Historic Oswestry Take an autumn stroll in Oswestry and the Borderlands and follow quiet canal towpaths, Offa's Dyke and Oswald's Trail. Wander round Ellesmere, Shropshire's Lake District or visit impressive border castle such as Powis and Chirk. Whittington Castle brings history to life with a multi period re-enactment the first weekend in October. Whilst for arctophiles, Welshpool and Llanfair Railway has its annual Teddy Bear weekend. Take their steam train through glorious Mid Wales countryside as the leaves fall and colours change. |

Surprising Oswestry Days out in Oswestry and the Borderlands are a bit different – that's the surprise. Halloween events take many different forms! Visit the British Ironwork Centre for a Halloween experience and a delicious afternoon tea. Park Hall Countryside Experience has a fun Pumpkin Fest for all the family. How good is your pumpkin carving? The last weekend in October is our monthly Artisan's market with late night opening and live music. Our famous Antiques and Collectors Fair is on too – Bargain Hunt anyone? |
