Half marathons, tin cans and our delicious new menu revealed!
Come to the British Ironwork Centre this month and see what's going on!
British Ironwork Centre To Play Host To The First Oswestry Half Marathon

On Sunday 30th April we will proudly be hosting the inaugural Oswestry Half Marathon, Shropshire's most theatrical running event, which has over 750 runners signed up and raring to go already!

Our 90 acres of grounds lends itself perfectly to hosting events, with plenty of free parking, a cafĂ© serving delicious homemade cakes and the most fantastic collection of metalwork you've ever seen, you'll have plenty to keep you occupied both before and after the race, whether you're taking part or cheering the runners on.
Take off to the inspirational sound of Chariots of Fire played by a full Silver Band, your blood is bound to be pumping as you weave your way through the sculpture park. Keep your eyes peeled for herds of leaping wildebeest, sinewy cheetahs, towering elephants and a band of the most colourful gorillas lining the route!

After a testing hill between mile marker six and seven it'll all be downhill, ideal for securing a personal best. As you cross the finish line you'll receive a medal like no other and a fabulous goody bag!

Once you've caught your breath you can celebrate your achievement with delicious food stalls and fun filled activities for all the family!

Breakfast In The Forge Café Heats Up!

We're delighted to announce that our very own Forge CafĂ© has a delicious new breakfast menu served daily between 9am and 11.30am (10am to 11.30am on Sundays).
We've got classics like bacon and sausage butties or beans on toast and then some extra special treats including gourmet porridge served with lashings of honey or fruit and jam, smoked salmon & scrambled eggs on hot, crunchy toast and fresh all-butter croissants served with butter or jam, all for between £2 and £4 - incredible!

Spring Is Coming...

It's almost time to dust off those garden chairs, tidy the borders and get ready to see everything come to life.

Forget your spring clean, get your garden ready with some absolutely beautiful ornaments and furniture.

>From striking cast iron benches to sun-catchingly dazzling armillaries to quirky weathervanes, handmade by our Blacksmith Paul right here in the Forge. 'Tis the season to be green fingered!
With only six days left in the January sale, it's the perfect time to take advantage of our amazing prices!

We've had a phenomenal response to our Tin Can Appeal and we cannot thank you enough, our tin bin is filling up nicely!

If you would like to donate a can, you can (see what we did there!) bring it in to the Showroom where it will be crafted into something magnificent and displayed for all to see.

Who would believe baked bean tins could turn into something so beautiful!

Could You Volunteer Or Support Oswestry Visitor Information Centre?

The Oswestry Visitor Information Centre opened 30 years ago when the A5/A483 bypass was built, it closed last July after visitor numbers plummeted even though it had previously won awards for being the best of its kind in the Midlands and Wales.

Our very own Chairman, Clive Knowles, stepped up by founding the Shropshire Tourism Volunteer Group to enable the centre to open in Spring with renewed joie de vivre. Local artists will be invited to display their creations amongst souvenirs, guides and more to help put Oswestry back on the map!

Hollis Office Solutions also came forward and General Manager Mark Bamford has been extremely generous by offering stationary, printers and the high probability of telephone and technical support.

We now need more local businesses to help this wonderful border town. Hollis are certainly an Oswestry company that has a sense of pride and responsibility for the town, please don't let them carry the weight alone.

The Shropshire Tourism Volunteer Group is looking for people of all ages and backgrounds to spare a half day (4 hours) a month to continue the Centre's great work for the town and wider area.

How To Get Involved
Please send an email telling us a little bit about yourself and why you'd like to volunteer or what your company could offer to: info@britishironworkcentre.co.uk or call Clive on 01691 610 952.
