2018 Events in Oswestry

Just look at all the lovely events which are going on in Oswestry in 2018 - keep this list handy so you can check it out every weekend to see what is happening.

Artisan Market - 26th January – 9am until 3pm - a collection of quality local craft and food producers held in Bailey Street and the Bailey Head

Shropshire Produce Market – 17th February - 9am until 3pm - Handpicked Shropshire based food and craft producers selling the best the County has to offer in the town centre

Artisan Market – 23th February – 9am until 3pm - a collection of quality local craft and food producers held in Bailey Street and the Bailey Head

Youth Music Festival – 28th Feb to 4th March – Over 300 talented young performers compete in this respected competition aimed at encouraging musical development. There is a huge number of classes using various instruments. The performances are free to watch and are held in local venues concluding with the Sunday final at Christchurch. Good Friday Family Day & Artisan Market – 30th March – 9am until 3pm- Lots of family activities on the Bailey Head with games, rides, entertainment, face painting and Easter Hunt etc. Free prizes.

Youth Market – 23rd May – 9.30am until 2pm - To celebrate National Love Your Local Market campaign Oswestry Markets will be supporting local schools and colleges to hold their very own market.

Artisan and Gardening Market - 25th May – 9am until 3pm - a collection of quality local craft and food producers held in Bailey Street and the Bailey Head. In addition gardening will be an important theme with a number of plant stalls, gardening advice and how to support wildlife and healthy eating

Charity Market – 1st June – 9am until 3pm – Working closely with community supporters The Qube, Oswestry Markets' hosts a charity market on the Bailey Head aimed at raising important funds and awareness for a wide number of local charities. 

Ifton Brass – 3rd June – 2pm until 4pm – Free family music in the award winning Cae Glas Park.

Bulgarian Folklore Club – 17th June – 12pm until 5pm - Free family music and dance in the award winning Cae Glas Park.

Artisan Market - 29th June – 9am until 3pm - a collection of quality local craft and food producers held in Bailey Street and the Bailey Head

Porth-y-waen Silver Band – 1st July – 2pm until 4pm - Free family music in the award winning Cae Glas Park.

Oswestry Food and Drink Festival – 14th & 15th July – 9am until 4pm - huge town centre event boasting the best Shropshire food producers. Free entry

TNS Fun Day – 14th July – 10am until 3pm – Cae Glas Park hosts local football team TNS who provided plenty of free family activities

Reggae Music Day – 15th July – 12pm until 7pm - Free family music in the award winning Cae Glas Park.

Guide Dog Event – 3rd August – 9am until 3pm – This event promotes the essential work of the local guide dogs giving everyone the chance to pet them and experience a blindfold run all on the Bailey Head

Oswestry Street Band – 5th August – 2pm until 4pm - Free family music in the award winning Cae Glas Park.

Salsa Dance and Music 19th August - 12pm until 4pm - Free family music in the award winning Cae Glas Park

Oswestry Balloon Festival and Continental Market – 25th & 26th August – Massive event with over 25 balloons launching from Cae Glas Park.  Food and craft stalls, live music, street entertainers etc Free family event

Artisan and Vintage Market – 31st August – 9am until 3pm - a collection of quality local craft and food producers held in Bailey Street and the Bailey Head. In addition there will be a Vintage theme on the Bailey Head with vintage style music, stalls and entertainment.

Bailey Head Dog Show – 8th September – Free family event in aid of Hectors Greyhound Rescue.  Small entry fee for classes

Heritage Open Days – 8th - 16th September – National initiative to open as many historical places as possible to the public for free. Oswestry has a wide number of interesting activities including aetiological digs, St Oswald's tower, market activities, the Town Museum and the Park Hall trenches etc. Go to www.oswestrytownmusuem.co.uk for further details

Oswestry Community Games – 23rd September – 10am until 3pm – large annual event held in Cae Glas Park giving everyone the chance to try a number of sports for free including tennis, football, archery, martial arts, hockey, rugby etc. Great family day out.

Apple Day – 13th October – 9am until 2pm – This established annual event celebrates the apple and healthy eating with lots of interesting varieties of apples and advice on growing by the local orchard group CROP.

Halloween Market – 27th October – Scary goings on on the Bailey Head.  Family fun, prizes, scary hunts, children's rides

Annual Bonfire and Firework Display – 3rd November – 6pm until 7pm – huge annual event held at Brogyntyn Park and managed by volunteers the Treble 999's. All proceeds to local charities.

Christmas Light Switch On – 22nd November – from 4pm – local schools and musical groups perform on the large stage held on the Bailey Head to celebrate the switching on of the Christmas Lights often with special guests. Great family night out.

Oswestry Christmas Parade – 1st December – 11am – Organised by all the local rotary groups this huge event has become one of the highlights of the year raising thousands of pounds for local charities. Huge floats, walking parades and live music throughout.

Oswestry Christmas Music Live – 7th December – 5pm until 10pm – One of the largest and spectacular night time events in the County. Huge amusement rides, ice rink, Christmas stalls, late night shopping, Santa's Grotto, live music stage and much much more. Fantastic night out for all the family.

Christmas Artisan Market – 21st December – 9am until 3pm - a collection of quality local craft and food producers held in Bailey Street and the Bailey Head with a Christmassy feel
