Oswestry Visitor Centre (top left) was built in 1407 and is the second oldest grammar school in the country? St Oswald's Church (bottom left) has the Yale memorial dated 1616 to the memory of the Alderman Hugh Yale whose family endowed Yale University in the United States.? The Guildhall (top right) is home to the Town Council, Oswestry Museum, the Attfield Theatre and Oswestry Town Archives. In 1814 a petition from the Burgess and Traders of Oswestry to the Mayor asked to prevent 'Strangers and Foreigners' from infringing trading rights in Oswestry. We now positively encourage "strangers and foreigners' to trade in town and build on Oswestry's excellent reputation for independent shopping. Llwyd Mansion (bottom right) was originally built in about 1604 and even then was probably shops. It is now on the corner of Bailey Street which leads very nicely up towards the market and Guild Hall.  Call in at Oswestry Visitor & Exhibition Centre to find out all about Oswestry and The Borderlands. Buy lovely local souvenirs and postcards, browse the exhibitions by local artists, find out more about Wilfred Owen and explore this hidden gem of a building.
