CURRENT EXHIBITION
'PAINTING WITH WORDS'
'A MOMENT IN TIME'

3 March - 7 April
Owing to adverse weather, Opening Night (2 March) rescheduled to
Friday 9 March (7-9pm)
~ All welcome ~
Artists have always been inspired by words - folk tales, ancient myths and legends, biblical narratives, classic books, maybe a single phrase or quote encountered in a favourite novel or poem. And now until 7 April we present a panorama of art inspired by language and literature, each artwork displayed alongside the quote or poem that inspired it.

Alongside and capturing moments of memorable, life-changing significance, three talented local artists join together to create an eclectic and fascinating display of print, mixed media and metalwork.

A GREAT START TO THE YEAR
Thanks to the high standard of work on display, our New Year Open proved very popular - and for some of our artists most rewarding. In particular, Georgina Shepherd, working in different media, sold no less than four beautifully expressive Shropshire landscapes (see below), and many visitors have been struck by the depth and drama of her work.
PAINT & POLITICS, FACT & FAKE
Artist-in-residence David Banninster's new project On the Face of It sets out to provoke the viewer to reflect on recent world events and their responses to them; to consider how 'fake news may be real and real news fake, that what seems real may be imaginary, and what seems incredulous may be real'.

Phillip Henry
Edinburgh-based singer/songwriter Simon's highly individual guitar playing reveals his classical training yet is steeped in the traditions of folk, Celtic and blues.

This exciting new trio sees banjo maestro Dan team up with award-winning fiddler Ciaran Algar and longtime collaborator Nic Zuppardi on mandolin.

Duo present music on fiddle, accordion and piano (Faith adding vocals), mostly composed jointly and drawing on their backgrounds in jazz and traditional music.

The best in blues, jazz and ragtime, presenting a contemporary slant on the popular acoustic music of the 1920/30s and earlier.

Top guitarist and composer of great live presence draws inspiration from gypsy swing, jazz, blues, electronic, folk, world and rock.

Guitarist Phillip is also a harmonica player, immersing himself in the music of the Deep South, traditional music of the British Isles and Indian classical music.
When booking tickets for live music and other events, please let us know if you require wheelchair space or have any other specific requirements.
