Countdown; the Knife Angel ready to take flight...
Knife Angel media embargo Monday 5th June until the Angel's move is complete!

The sky's the limit!

It's the first sight of freedom for the Knife Angel, the UK's National Monument against Violence and Aggression, as the vast walls and roofing that have encompassed the Angel over the past two years are peeled away.

A team of engineers are currently working solidly around the clock to remove the workshop's roof and, with a heavy ton crane on its way, the Angel will finally be flown from the workshop within the next few days.

We are continuing to work hard, gathering signatures for the Angel to be displayed on the Fourth Plinth in Trafalgar Square, however, whatever London's decision, its final resting place may be here at the Centre – strategically placed to become Shropshire's Angel of the North.

We're so excited that the BBC One Show will be joining us to record this momentous undertaking but PLEASE BE AWARE, from Monday 5th June there will be a blanket media ban on any photography or filming of the Angel, with security checks and bag searches in place whilst the Knife Angel is relocated.

A fabulous summer's evening spectacular on Saturday 10th June!

Come and join us for our first Proms in the Park, enjoy a glass of prosecco with strawberries served on beautifully landscaped lawns, whilst being enchanted by the one and only Wrexham Symphony Orchestra.
To start the evening off with a bang there will be pre-show performances from our special guests, Clwyd Clippers and Lilly Whitehurst, who will create a magical atmosphere.

The Orchestra will then take centre stage, playing a wonderful array of classical favourites and beloved pieces from the silver screen, all rounded off by a firework finale at the end of the evening.

You're encouraged to bring a picnic hamper full of your favourite things to eat and drink along with a blanket to sit back on and enjoy the spectacle.

Have you seen our everlasting flower garden? The garden has been sprouting beneath the glorious sunshine we've been having over the last few weeks!
The garden has proven very popular with both children and grown ups delighting in the Alice in Wonderland like setting.

Come and have your picture taken between giant sunflowers and blooming poppies.

With flowers starting from just £9.99 you can bring lasting colour into your garden all year round!

On the 18th June The Great Penny Farthing Spectacular will be a firm salute to times gone by, the event is open to any form of penny farthing, modern or old, as well as any vintage, boneshaker, tricycle or classic racing bicycle. All route events will be structured around these bicycles to ensure the ride is as smooth as possible.

Please note, with the exception of modern penny farthings, which don't make riding much easier(!), your bicycle must have been produced pre-1986 to qualify for entry.
We absolutely encourage heritage dress, think: Top hats or flat caps handsomely poised over helmets, colourful and stylish wool jerseys, oiled handlebar moustaches, aviator style goggles and spare inner tubes slung casually over shoulders. There will be a prize for best dressed, which will be announced during the afternoon.

All participants will receive a delicious free lunch, tea or coffee, refreshing ice cream and special gift. We are also providing onsite camping for participants the evening before the event with access to portaloos, although you would need to notify the Centre prior to the event.

This unique and wonderful event will be great fun for all ages, and with so many things to see and do, it really will be a fantastic day for both competitors and spectators alike.

In Collaboration with Oswestry School and Oswestry Access Group, the Ironworks are running a new pop-up community initiative aimed at assisting disabled drivers.

Josephine Marsh, founder and member of the Ironworks team, has joined forces with the community action group from Oswestry School to introduce new summer community initiatives. This initiative is in response to members of the disabled community expressing difficulty arranging car washing facilities.

We will host 'Blue Badge Bonanza' days on the following dates between 2.30pm and 4.15pm where any member of the disabled community can visit the Ironworks and have this energetic group give their cars a free clean!

Our National Tin Can Art Appeal to schools across the United Kingdom has seen over 100 schools signed up and more than 20,000 cans collected so far!

Our goal is to reach ONE MILLION so we can turn them into a giant bust of Her Majesty the Queen, this is where we need your help!

By promoting the appeal and the importance of recycling you can help us spread the word to all schools in Shropshire and further afield.

This project is very much about education, promoting the environment and highlighting how we can all have a positive impact on the world, especially when working together.

Every school partnering this colossal ambition will be rewarded with a completely free day of fun and creativity once they've collected two full recycling sacks of cans per child.*

If your school would like to be involved please click below.
