Did you know?

You may have heard about Oswestry becoming a BID Town? This is a Business Improvement District - an initiative that has been taken up by many towns throughout Britain to improve and develop their town centres.

Proms in the Park 10th June, a fabulous summers evening spectacular, come and enjoy a glass of prosecco with strawberries served on beautifully landscaped lawns, whilst being enchanted by the one and only Wrexham Symphony Orchestra.

Penny Farthing Race 18th June, the day will consist of 6 races, this unique and wonderful event will be great fun for all ages. 

Transport Rally 15th July, Last year's transport rally was a roaring success, we had over 500 vehicles in attendance

Hot Air Balloon Festival 26th-28th August, In collaboration with Lindstrand Balloons, supporting Nightingale Hospice

Oswestry Guided Tours
Our regular tours of Oswestry are now underway.The cost is £2.50 per adult and 50p per child.The tours run every Saturday until the end of September. These tours are a great way for visitors to get to know the town and are interesting for locals to learn more about where we live.

We would love to have more guides so if you or anyone you know would like to share their knowledge of the history of Oswestry Town, please get in touch with Karen or Elly.

The BVA was established in 1999 to provide an informal network offering support and information to artists living in and around the Shropshire border town of Oswestry in the UK. The group holds regular meetings, part social part 'talking shop', and puts on several annual events.
The Open Studios will be held over the weekends of June 10th-11th & 17th -18th, a great opportunity to see local artists at work.
Come and meet the artists involved at Willow Gallery on 3rd June from 2-4pm.


 

 














Wem Sweet Pea Show


Our Wem Show is on the 15th and 16th July in the Stanier Hall with a large Marquee at the Adams School by kind permission of the Head Teacher and her team.   
Saturday 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.  Sunday  10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Sale of Blooms 4. p.m. 
Admission to the Show £3.  Membership £3.
Refreshments in the Ruscoe Centre all Day both days.
Wheelchair access to all areas & Amenities, undercover and on site.
Only disabled parking at the venue.  Town Centre parking £1.80 all day, Sunday Free. (at time of printing!)
 
Wem Sweet Pea Show

Schedules of our show are available now, an A5 s.a.e. will guarantee your copy.   There are over seventy classes to suit all, from Experts with 1,000's to the absolute Novice with a few plants up the trellis.   A special section to display varieties with outstanding perfume bred by Henry Eckford V.M.H., in Wem pre 1910 and a large Floral Art section and a number of Children's classes.   Our stand in the Marquee will include seeds of these varieties together with cultural instructions, any amount of advice on growing and showing, an opportunity to join the society,  Sweet pea decorated China, Greeting Cards, Book marks, Fridge Magnets and Jewellery & stocking fillers.  Many stalls will include Perennial Plants, Vegetables, Crafts, Preserves, Collectables, Jewellery and many more.  Wem traders, also included, will compete for best decorated premises.

Sweeney Gin Fest 2017 is our biggest event of the year!

Join Sweeney Hall for our second Gin Festival, celebrating one of our favourite drinks with live music, food, and of course a well stocked bar.

Sweeney Gin Fest 2017 takes place on 21st, 22nd & 23rd July, take part in the weekend fun – bask in the sunshine in the spacious grounds surrounding Sweeney Hall, enjoy a refreshing drink on the terrace, and just make the most of the time with your friends and loved ones. We know that you can never guarantee fab weather all day, but we've got it covered with a marquees, making sure the Gin Festival goes ahead rain or shine.

We will be serving a BBQ amongst other food so no-one goes hungry, and fireworks on Friday & Saturday night and the incredible Total Chaos closing the event on Sunday.

Our team have been diligently testing the finest selection of gins, mixers, and all the accompaniments you may require – with the top picks making it through to the Sweeney Hall gin bar. For non gin lovers, don't worry, on the day there will be a selection of bars on-site including one serving lovely sale from local brewery Stone House Brewery so there is something for everyone

The event tickets are £10.00 per day which includes a gin , just leave the car at home so you can make the most of the occasion – book in to our luxury accommodation, or our team will happily arrange a taxi for you if you prefer!

Saturday 22nd – 12pm to midnight
