Village Hall Quiz

Message from Colin Case.

We enjoyed a very successful Centenary Quiz in our Village Hall last night.
So many thanks to the 12 teams that took part - and special congratulations to the X-Penguins - the winning team.
We had a really good range of questions from our QuizMaster, Trevor Allison - so many thanks to him too.
And of course the rest of the Village Hall Committee and helpers who set up the tables, served tea, collected answer sheets and cleared up again afterwards.

Several people asked if we could do it more frequently than annually. We are looking at trying to do this - perhaps quarterly or so.
And people also noted the very many Hall improvements - everything from cushions to make the plastic chairs more comfortable to the new surface on the East Wall interior, opposite the stage, which not only looks much better but also helps keep the cold and wet out. Remember it is the Hall's Centenary Year - it has stood there for 100 years - and parts are in need of further improvement.
So the £110 raised last night is very welcome.

It might be that not all villagers are familiar with some of the Hall Facilities. Of course it boasts a super stage (how else would RATS put on such fantastic Pantos?) and can seat around 100 people. We have tables and chairs (and cushions) and crockery and cutlery for around 80 people. We also have a huge (10foot diagonal) projection screen and an HD Projector to go with it - so 1080p films from a bluray source or other HDMI output, for example. And a sound system that can blow the doors off (except that we consider our neighbours of course).
We have recently hosted two private parties - one for youngsters and one for those still young at heart. And the regular activities from our hirers - from exercise classes to dancing to Rainbows etc.

But we still have some time available to accommodate other groups that might want to start up.

We could do with a few more Trustees to join our Management Committee, or if anyone would like to offer help for the odd job or two we would love to hear from you.
Or if anyone has access to some cheap 4'x2' ceiling tiles for our suspended ceiling that would be welcome too.

So finally, a great night - many thanks again to all involved.
