Once again, multi-media art, great music, immersive workshops and more are all here to help inspire and entertain you this spring and summer at your local Gallery.
The May weekend of 21st & 22nd is going to be a busy one. There will be an ideal spring evening with Dan Walsh  - the 'demon picker'  - as he brings his  unique combination of  Banjo, Guitar and vocals  to our LIVE sessions,  and  artist Darren Fraser  whose work is 'characterized by drama, humour and the study of relationships'  will be running his two day course 'A Continuation of Portraiture in Oils' (Open to anyone).   This will also be your last chance to see our current joint exhibition – Plants and Pollinators & Artist Hugging the Hillfort' running until the 21st May.

The Willow LIVE session with Dan Walsh

Saturday May 21st  Tickets £10. Doors open 7pm, performance at 8pm.
Come and join us for a great evening with one the finest banjo players in the UK and see banjo played like never before.  Our LIVE music sessions are intimate and fun – and the Eatery will be taking bookings for dinner prior to the music.  See the Gallery transform into a great live music venue.  Bar available all evening. 
Dan Walsh - Music Night Food Menu
Tables available for ticket holders only between 6.30pm-7.00pm with band to start at 8.00pm. Table bookings essential and pre-orders required 3 days prior to event. Seating for viewing bands are located in the gallery – seats may be reserved by yourself when you arrive for your evening meal if you wish.
Willow Eatery is fully licensed with a limited selection of wines, spirits, beers and cider on offer, as well as soft drinks, teas and coffees. For details/enquiries regarding allergens or alternative options to suit your dietary requirements – please contact Lindsay at Willow Eatery to discuss.

Current Exhibition
Plants and Pollinators & Artist's Hugging the Hillfort
Open until Saturday 21st May
Complementing the more than 50 works of art that celebrate our local Hillfort Heritage will be an exhibition of work featuring Plants and Pollinators. Both offer us a reflection on what a beautiful part of the countryside we live in and how important it is to protect – and enjoy – what is around us.
 
Upcoming Exhibition
Borderland Visual Arts

May 28th – 25th June
Celebrating their 17th year, this show will include work by established and emerging artists and will accompany the Borderland Visual Art Trail.  A full variety of media and subject matter will be on display and their past exhibitions have always attracted a great deal of interest. BVA memebers will be opening their studios to the public on the weekends 11th & 12th June and 18th & 19th June.

Upcoming Workshops
 
Printmaking with Ian Phillips
Saturday May 14th,   10am – 4pm £55
Ian Phillips returns with his popular printmaking workshops giving an introduction into various linocut techniques and hand burnishing printing.   Ian provides all the equipment – you just need to bring an apron, sketch paper and a simple and bold picture that you would like to reproduce as a linocut.

A Continuation to Portraiture in Oils with Darren Fraser (No previous experience needed)
21st May/ 22nd 10am – 4pm £60
A two day course with artist Darren Fraser that will give you an insight into how Darren captures his subjects with such  affection and humanity.
 
Oil Painting Through Bernard Vogel with Leo Donaghy
June 7th/14th/21st/28th   9.30am – 1pm  £80
Weather permitting, Leo will be taking you in and around the streets of Oswestry where you will capture drawings and sketches to be taken back to the studio and developed into paintings.  For the outside work you will just need coloured pencils and a drawing pen plus an A5 sketch pad.  Back at the studio you will need acrylics or oil and all necessary equipment.  Also you will need to bring 6 canvas boards, 10x8, 10x12, 10x14, - any of those sizes or larger if you like.
 
Art for Relaxation with Rachel Byron
10th June/17th June/24th June/1st July 1am – 3pm £6 per session  £20 for all 4
Come and join this small and informal group and explore various techniques. 
 
Experimental Textiles with Carol Grivell
15th June & 22nd June 10.30am – 4pm £100
In a fun and relaxed environment Carol will work with you to help produce a textured wall  hanging for you to take home. Six or more textile  techniques will be demonstrated  This course runs over two Wednesdays and all materials are provided.
 
Landscape in Batik with Jenny O'Leary
25th June 10am – 4pm £35
Batik is a versatile and creative medium that has been used for centuries.  At this workshop Jenny will show you how to produce   this decorative art form using wax and dyes.  All materials provided.
 
Fashion Illustration with Carol Grivell
13th July 10.30 – 4.00pm £35
Interested in Fashion? Come along to this relaxed and informative session with Carol to learn about the history of fashion design and the techniques  used.  You will use a variety of media and all materials will be provided.
 
Summer Craft Fair
Saturday 9th July 10am – 5pm.
Stalls are still available for our Summer Craft fairs showcasing locally made Arts and Crafts.
