You are invited to a Knit for Life Tea Party
in Trefonen village hall
on Tuesday March 25th at 2pm
Pam Johnson of Trefonen and Elaine Jones of Minsterley are co-founders of local charity Knit for Life which encourages people to make the most of their skills by knitting for charity. The knitting is passed on to many charities for distribution in the UK and abroad to those in need.
The charity has been so successful in the last year and we have received so many blanket squares that the tasks of unpacking knitting, sorting squares into matching sizes and then into blanket packs of 35 squares are becoming jobs that need some helping hands.
We are holding a tea party in Trefonen village hall on Tuesday March 25th from 2pm to 4pm and are looking for volunteers to help us sort squares, make blanket packs and sew in any loose ends. We do not sew the blanket squares together for two reasons – 1) if they went as finished blankets they would incur customs duty and 2) they go mostly to South Africa where teams of ladies like to make their contribution by sewing the blankets together for the children.
In 2013 we distributed 5,813 knitted squares, 859 matinee jackets, 1,201 hats, 10 baby sleeping sacks, 128 pairs of socks or bootees, 46 cot blankets, 124 jumpers or vests and 275 toys, so you can why we need a hand.
Please come along if you can spare an hour or two. For a modest donation of £1 you will be able to enjoy tea, cakes and a natter while helping us to keep hundreds of needy children warm and cosy. We will also hold a raffle to cover the cost of hiring the hall.
