A bit late I am afraid but we have been away.
Rea Valley Young Farmers become new victors of annual tug of war event
Some of Oswestry's "toughest" organisations & sporting groups tested their strength in spectacular style in the third, annual Tug of War event hosted by the British Ironwork Centre this weekend.
Both brawn and brains were challenged as teams pitted their wits and muscle against each other.
Great grit and determination – not to mention humour - was shown by each team, who fought each other in a "best of three pulls" challenge.
The Young Farmers emerged as victors as they bettered Oswestry Rugby Club in a dramatic finale.

Although Oswestry Rugby club didn't rise to win the tug of war games for another consecutive year, they were victorious in a just for fun challenge after the final pull, competing in a flaming rope pull against the young farmers and a backdrop of excited screams from the assembled crowd.
Steve Charmley, captain of Oswestry Rugby club commented: "We have retained the giant trophy for the past 2 years, this was a crushing defeat and we have vowed to win it back next year."
Clive Knowles, Chairman of the Centre, said "We congratulate the Rea Valley Young farmers, who have emerged as worthy winners.  We would also like to thank the teams who have supported this year's event and of course our own valiant Ironworkers, all of whom put in excellent efforts.  We look forward to another successful event in 2016 and invite anyone who would like to challenge this year's victors to enter next year's spectacle.
